Reproductive Endocrinologist Referrals

With the increasing awareness about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and the astounding number of women affected by it, the AEA has been educating members on how to recognize and assist patients who are plagued with PCOS. At each convention members are brought up to date on the latest research regarding this problem which affects 6-10% of the female population.

The biggest problem electrologists encounter is finding an endocrinologist who is aware of how emotionally devastating PCOS can be to their patients with regard to excessive hair growth. Some physicians have the misconception that oral therapy alone will correct the problem while the majority of physicians do know it takes a joint, concerted effort on the part of the electrologist and the endocrinologist to achieve success....permanent hair removal.

The AEA has exhibited at the Endocrinology annual meetings. It has been our practice at the AEA booth, to request business cards from the attending physicians. We have made use of these cards by compiling a list of physicians you may want to refer your clients to.
