April is Electrology Awareness Month
March 31, 2008

WENATCHEE, Wash.--- The American Electrology Association, Inc. (AEA) has declared April as national Electrology Awareness Month.

The number one objective of the AEA, a highly respected international professional organization, is to establish and promote the highest standards for all electrologists (permanent hair removal practitioners) worldwide. "During Electrology Awareness Month we want to salute all electrologists who adhere to these standards," says Sharon Ortiz, CPE, President of the AEA. For fifty years the AEA has been a preeminent leader in the profession by providing the following quality programs and legislative services:

* Board certification is available for those electrologists who choose to take their education to the next level. Upon passing the International Board of Electrologist Certification (IBEC) exam the electrologist is given the designation of Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE) and must participate in 75 hours (7.5 CEUs) of approved continuing education, every five years, to maintain the certification credential.
* Continuing Education is a vital part of providing the consumer with safe and effective up-to-date treatment. The AEA's Office of Continuing Education (OCE) approves programs, seminars, and other learning opportunities, and monitors continuing education hours. The OCE insures the highest standards of continuing education.
* Licensed in thirty-three of the fifty states, the AEA assists electrologists in unlicensed states who seek regulation. Each licensed state sets a course of required study and administers a licensing examination. Many states use the AEA's IBEC licensing exam.

Men and women seek electrologists to permanently address their hair removal needs. Still the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal, electrolysis remains "The Ultimate Solution in permanent hair removal."
