
Journal of Electrology (JOE)
Published semi-annually. It is designed to inform and educate the professional electrologist by offering articles of interest and values by reputable authors who are well qualified in the topic area.
Each edition of the JOE offers a self-guided home study program with a means to assess learning through examination. The successful completion of this examination can result in earning Continuing Educations Units (CEUs) to fulfill the established recertification requirements for the Certified Professional Electrologists (CPE), American Electrology Association's (AEA) International Board Certification Electrologist (IBEC) credential. Each home study is pre-approved by the AEA's office of Continuing Education (OCE).
Electrology World (EW)
AEA's membership newsletter publication that is published three times yearly. The EW contains various articles of interest to the professional electrologist such as Success Coach, Peer to Peer, Affiliate news and events, plus advertisers and more.
Infection Control Standards for the Practice of Electrology (ICS).
The ICS are consistent with Standard Precautions of infection control as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The AEA ICS is revised yearly and reviewed by leading consultants in microbiology, professionals in infection control and epidemiology. The ICS contain definitions of terms, overview of standards, control measures for hand washing, use of gloves, sterilization, cleaning, disinfecting, environmental control and housekeeping, patient/client considerations, hepatitis precautions, follow up procedures, and standard precautions.
Standards of Practice
It contains uniform concepts necessary for quality practice while allowing appropriate flexibility for individual practitioners.
Certified Professional Electrologist Recertification Guide
This document outlines policies and guidelines for earning continuing education units (CEUs) as established by the Office of Continuing Education (OCE) and the Continuing Education Review Committee (CERC).
Certified Professional Electrologist Test Bulletin
The CPE Test Bulletin contains sixteen pages of necessary and helpful information, including a Registration Form for the exam. It outlines education and documentation requirements, exam fees, registration deadline, as well as what to expect after taking the exam.
