AEA National Conference App  ·  Last updated June 2026
The AEA National Conference App is a progressive web application provided by the American Electrology Association to help conference attendees view the schedule, track continuing education units, and receive messages from conference staff. We are committed to handling your information with care and transparency.

Information We Collect

Login credentials. When you sign in, you provide your AEA Cert/ID number and password. These are transmitted over an encrypted connection solely to verify your identity against the AEA membership system. Your password is never stored by this app. A temporary session token is kept in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in for up to 12 hours, after which you will need to sign in again.

Push notification subscription. If you grant notification permission, your browser generates a push subscription — an endpoint URL and a set of encryption keys. This is stored on AEA servers so that conference staff can send you announcements and direct messages through the app. Guests who have not signed in may also subscribe using an anonymous device identifier generated by your browser.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or process:

  • Your location or GPS data
  • Contacts, camera, or microphone access
  • Browsing history or cross-site activity
  • Device identifiers beyond the push notification subscription
  • Any usage analytics or behavioral tracking

We do not use third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking technologies of any kind.

How Your Information Is Used

The information you provide is used solely to:

  • Authenticate you and display your CEU records from the AEA system
  • Deliver conference announcements and direct messages to your device
  • Display your personalized attendance badge for session check-in
  • Track your session attendance and calculate earned CEU credits

Data Sharing

Your information is not sold, rented, or shared with any third party. Conference staff with admin access may send messages to attendees and view message delivery status. CEU records are read from and written to the AEA's existing membership system — no new permanent databases are created for this app beyond push notification subscriptions.

Data Retention

Your session token expires automatically after 12 hours and is removed from your device when you sign out. Push notification subscriptions are cleared from AEA servers at the conclusion of the conference. CEU records are maintained as part of your permanent AEA membership file in accordance with AEA's standard record-keeping policies.

Your Rights & Choices

You may sign out at any time to immediately clear your session from your device. Push notification permission can be revoked through your device or browser settings at any time — this will not affect your ability to use the app or view your CEU records.
